Financial controllers for trading companies, holding groups, clinic and salon groups and service businesses in Dubai. The controller owns the accuracy of the numbers: a month-end close that finishes on time, reconciliations that tie out, intercompany balances between free zone and mainland entities that agree, controls that stop errors and leakage, and an audit file ready before the auditors ask. Where a CFO looks forward, the controller makes sure the past is right. We assess candidates on a real month-end close with planted problems.
Hire a financial controllerLooking for a job?A financial controller who closes the month on a fixed calendar, can explain every balance on the balance sheet and gives the owner numbers that do not change after the meeting.
Many candidates have done parts of a close as senior accountants. A controller must own the whole close and the controls around it, so the checks are hands-on.
How it differs from neighbouring roles. An accountant posts and reconciles; a financial controller owns the close, the controls and the audit file and reviews the accountants. A finance manager in an SME often combines the controller's work with cash, budgets and banks; in a group these split, and the controller reports to the finance manager or CFO. Typical hiring mistake: promoting the best senior accountant without testing review and control skills, or expecting a controller to also build strategy and run fundraising.

In one company with a small team, a finance manager usually covers both the close and cash, budgets and banks. A controller becomes a separate role when there are several entities, intercompany balances, a demanding audit or a team of accountants to review. If the problem is that numbers are late or keep changing, you need controller skills; if the problem is cash and planning, you need a finance manager or a CFO.
