When a clinic in Dubai feels busy, the first idea is often a second doctor. But many clinics are busy at the desk, not in the treatment room: enquiries wait for answers, consultations end without a plan and undecided patients are never called back. A patient coordinator fixes that part first.

A second doctor adds hours to the schedule. That helps only if the hours you already have are full of patients who decided to be treated. In many clinics the gap is earlier in the journey.
A coordinator guides the patient from the first message to the procedure and back for follow-up. It is a sales role in a medical setting, and it is non-clinical, so no DHA licence is needed. The full role profile is on our patient coordinator hiring page.
In a clinic with one or two doctors, one receptionist can answer calls and also explain treatment plans. With more traffic the roles split, because answering the phone and selling a treatment plan need different skills. If your receptionist is also your closer, both jobs suffer. Our guide to front office roles and pay shows how clinics divide the desk.
Market estimates per month from our role page and the Dubai Salary Index 2026:
The logic is simple: a coordinator does not create new hours, but turns more of the consultations you already have into paid treatment plans. That is why the bonus should be paid on plans the patient actually paid for, not on consultations booked. Before you add a second doctor, compare two numbers for the last three months: how many consultations you had and how many became paid plans. If the gap is large, the coordinator comes first.
Ask for their real conversion: how many consultations turned into treatment plans in their last clinic. Then run a role play with a price objection and a hesitant patient on WhatsApp, check clinic software and CRM, and confirm the visa status. You make the decision and the person is employed directly by your clinic; we help you find and assess candidates. See also the clinic receptionist role if you need both seats.
No. It is a non-clinical role, so no medical licence is needed; the employer sponsors the work permit.
About 6,000 - 10,000 AED a month plus bonus, and 10,000 - 15,000 AED plus bonus for a senior or medical tourism coordinator.
When the schedule is not full of decided patients: many consultations end without a paid plan and nobody owns the follow-up.
