Country managers for foreign companies entering the UAE and for groups opening a Dubai office: software and tech, industrial and building products, consumer brands, healthcare and professional services. Often this is the first local hire, so the country manager is sales lead, office founder and the headquarters' eyes in the region at once: they win the first clients and distributors, set up partners and suppliers, hire the first team and report to headquarters in their language. We assess candidates on a 90-day market entry plan for your product.
Hire a country managerLooking for a job?A country manager who opens doors in the UAE in the first months, signs the first clients or distributors and builds a small team the headquarters can trust.
For a first hire, a big title in a large company can mislead: the candidate may never have built anything from zero. The checks focus on what the person can do alone.
How it differs from neighbouring roles. A general manager runs an established business with a team and processes; a country manager of a new market often starts alone and builds both. A business development manager opens deals but does not carry the P&L, the office and the team. Typical hiring mistake: hiring a senior manager from a large corporation who has always had a brand, a team and a budget behind them, for a start-up entry with none of those. Another: no agreed targets and decision rights between the country manager and headquarters.

Usually a country manager who can sell personally, choose partners or distributors and set up the basics, rather than a pure administrator or a pure salesperson. Ask candidates for a 90-day market entry plan for your product and check what they built from zero before. Admin and office support can be added once the first clients are in place.
