Owners usually know their competitors by name and by Instagram. Far fewer know how fast those competitors answer a WhatsApp message, what they say about price, or what their clients complain about. This method takes about two weeks of part-time work and gives facts you can act on: where you lose clients, where you can stand out and what to do in the next 90 days.
Talk to usThe plan is simple: week one is for collecting facts, week two for comparing them, finding the gaps and writing the plan.
Choose competitors the way your client does, not by size. Search Google Maps and Instagram for your main service in your area, note who your clients mention, and see whose ads appear when you search. A useful list has three kinds:
This is the most useful part, and the one owners skip. Contact each competitor the way a client would: a WhatsApp message, an Instagram direct message and a call. Use the same scenario everywhere, for example a question about the price of the main service and a free slot this week. Ask questions and stop before paying; do not book slots you will not use.
Often the biggest gap is not the price but the speed and quality of the first answer. Record in a table:
Build one table: rows are competitors, columns are your 5-7 key services. Compare the price for the same thing, not the headline price: what is included, duration, level of the master or doctor, packages and memberships, first-visit offers. Mark where prices are given only on request; that is a fact too.
Then read the Google Maps reviews: the latest 30-50 for each competitor and every negative review in full. Sort what clients write into topics, praise and complaints separately. Look also at whether and how the owner replies.
Content and ads show what competitors want to be known for and where they spend money. Both can be checked with public tools. The Meta Ad Library shows a page's active ads on Facebook and Instagram; the Google Ads Transparency Center shows ads by advertiser and region. In search, check who appears for your main queries on Google and Google Maps, and whether a client can book on a competitor's website in a few taps.
The full checklist for the two weeks:
| What to check | Where | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|
| Response speed and follow-up | WhatsApp, Instagram, phone | Who wins the lead |
| Prices and packages | Price lists, mystery shopping | Your price position |
| Client praise and complaints | Google Maps reviews | What clients value |
| Content and offer | Instagram, TikTok | How they position |
| Active ads | Meta Ad Library, Google Ads Transparency Center | Where they spend |
| Search visibility | Google search and Google Maps | Who gets found |
| Website and booking | Website, booking page | Where clients drop off |
| Team and specialists | Website, Instagram | Who they rely on |
Facts without decisions are a report that sits in a folder. In the second week, put everything on one page: where you are stronger, where you are weaker, and which client need nobody covers well. Then choose a positioning you can prove in one sentence: who you are for, what you do better and why the client should believe it. It should rest on something real, such as response speed, a specific expertise, a language or a service format.
The 90-day plan turns this into actions with an owner and a date: usually response speed and scripts first, then prices and packages, then content and ads. Measure the same things you measured at competitors, so you can repeat the check in three to six months.
What the owner should receive at the end:
TLNT.ae is an international company based in the UAE and has worked here since 2022. Our business consulting direction helps companies that sell through messengers and calls: beauty salons, aesthetic and medical clinics, real estate, education and service businesses. We run the competitor analysis by this method, including mystery shopping in English and Russian, and turn it into a positioning and a 90-day plan. If the gaps are in response speed and follow-up, we can also set up a CRM (amoCRM (Kommo) or Zoho CRM) and an AI bot, so the plan does not stay on paper.
Every project starts with a free review, a 15-minute call. After it we name a fixed project price, and we agree it with you before work starts.
Pick 5-10 competitors your clients actually compare you with, contact each one as a client by WhatsApp and phone, build a price and packages matrix, read their Google Maps reviews, check their content and ads in the Meta Ad Library and the Google Ads Transparency Center, then turn the gaps into a positioning and a 90-day plan. It takes about two weeks of part-time work.
Use two free public tools: the Meta Ad Library for active ads on Facebook and Instagram, and the Google Ads Transparency Center for Google ads by advertiser and region. They show the creative and the offer, not the budget or the results.
A full analysis once or twice a year is usually enough, plus a short check every quarter: response speed by mystery shopping, prices of the key services and new reviews. Repeat it earlier if a strong new competitor opens nearby or your leads drop.
