Hire a key account manager in Dubai

Key account managers for B2B distributors, trading houses, FMCG and building materials suppliers, SaaS companies and service firms in Dubai. A key account manager does not chase new logos: they own a short list of large customers (a supermarket chain, a hotel group, a contractor, a hospital group) and grow revenue, margin and share of wallet inside each of them, year after year. We assess candidates on a written account plan for a real-looking customer and on how they defend price in a difficult negotiation.

Who we help you hire

A key account manager who knows every decision-maker in each big account, sees the renewal or the listing review coming months ahead and grows the account without giving the margin away.

What to check before hiring

Many CVs say "key account management" when the person was a field sales executive with a few large clients. The checks below separate an account owner from an order-taker.

1
Account plan task: we give the candidate a one-page profile of a real-looking account (a retail chain or a contractor) with last year's sales, margin and a competitor entering. The candidate writes a short account plan: goals, people to win, risks, actions for the next quarter. We look at the logic and the numbers, not the design.
2
Price negotiation role-play: the customer's procurement head asks for a discount and longer payment terms at renewal. The candidate negotiates with an interviewer playing the buyer. We watch whether they trade (volume, listing, term) or simply give in.
3
Pipeline and forecast review: the candidate walks us through their current or last portfolio: top accounts, revenue trend, what was lost and why. Vague answers about "relationships" without numbers are a warning sign.
4
Structured reference calls: calls to a former sales director, and where possible to a former customer, about retention, margin discipline and how the candidate handled a lost tender or a supply problem.

How it differs from neighbouring roles. A sales executive and a business development manager open new customers; a key account manager keeps and grows the few customers that already bring most of the revenue. A sales manager runs the sales team and its targets. Typical hiring mistake: promoting the best hunter into key accounts and then wondering why renewals slip. Another: a commission plan paid only on revenue, so the KAM buys volume with discounts. Pay part of the variable on margin and retention.

FAQ

How much does a key account manager earn in Dubai?

Market estimate for 2026: about 12,000 - 18,000 AED per month plus commission for a key account manager, 18,000 - 25,000 AED plus commission for a senior KAM with national chains or large B2B accounts, and 25,000 - 35,000 AED plus bonus for a head of key accounts. What is the difference between a key account manager and a sales executive?

A sales executive finds and closes new customers. A key account manager owns a small number of large existing customers and is measured on retention, margin and growth inside each account. If most of your revenue comes from a handful of chains, groups or contractors, you need a KAM; if you need new customers, you need a sales executive or a business development manager.
