A doctor or surgeon who works across two or three clinics in Dubai carries a second job nobody sees: the diary, the licence and CME calendar, conference registrations and flights, referral letters and emails, a publication deadline, and the family's school run and travel. A clinic receptionist or a patient coordinator does not do this work; they work for the clinic, not for you. This guide is about a personal or executive assistant for the doctor as a person: what hurts without one, what to delegate (non-clinical only), which type fits, what it costs and how to check the person before you trust them with your calendar.
Talk to usThe pattern is similar for a dermatologist with two clinics, a dentist who consults in three places or a surgeon with operating days in different hospitals. None of the items below is dramatic on its own; together they eat the evenings and the weekends.
Everything below is non-clinical. The assistant does not touch diagnosis, treatment, prescriptions or patient records beyond what the clinic's own staff give them to coordinate. Split the list into business, personal and household tasks and agree it in writing.
Choose by the mix of tasks, not by the title. One person is enough for a doctor with one household and two or three sites. A second person, usually a house manager or a driver, is needed when the household alone takes a full day or when you travel more than a week a month and someone must stay with the calendar. Market estimate, AED per month, total package (basic salary plus allowances); on top of it the employer pays visa, health insurance and a gratuity provision.
| Type | When it fits | AED per month |
|---|---|---|
| Personal assistant | mostly your own diary, travel, personal and family admin | 5,000 - 10,000, senior 12,000+ |
| Doctor's admin assistant | licence and CME file, correspondence, conferences, publications, some clinic coordination | 8,000 - 12,000, senior 12,000 - 18,000 |
| Hybrid multi-assistant | business plus personal plus household in one person, usually a doctor's family with children | 10,000 - 18,000, senior 18,000 - 25,000 |
| Virtual assistant | inbox, bookings, publication formatting; nothing that needs presence | 3,500 - 8,000 part-time or remote |
Candidates come from three places: assistants of other doctors and clinic owners who want a bigger role, experienced personal assistants from other fields who can learn medical vocabulary, and clinic coordinators ready to work for one principal. Test on tasks, not on a conversation.
An assistant to a doctor sees colleagues' names, your income, your family's addresses and sometimes patient names in your inbox. Treat access as a decision, not a default.
TLNT is a hiring consultancy. For a doctor who needs a personal or executive assistant we help define the scope with clinical tasks excluded, set the salary range as a market estimate, find and assess candidates with a practical skills assessment on real tasks such as a cross-clinic calendar and a licence and conference timeline, and prepare the offer. You make the hiring decision and agree the terms with the candidate yourself; the person is employed directly by you or your company, the employer sponsors the visa and we give you a step-by-step checklist. If what you need is a clinic-side role, see our medical office assistant and patient coordinator pages.
Our fee is fixed for each role and agreed before the search starts. A 10% prepayment of the fee starts the search, the rest is due once the person has started work. If it does not work out, we find a replacement free of charge; the period is set in the contract. Consulting and CRM projects are priced after a free review.
A doctor who works in one clinic with a good coordinator usually does not. A doctor or surgeon with two or more sites, a licence and CME calendar, conferences, publications and a family in Dubai usually loses several hours a week to admin that no clinic employee covers. If you regularly do paperwork after nine in the evening or have missed a deadline this year, an assistant pays for itself in consultation time.
Market estimate: a personal assistant 5,000 - 10,000 AED per month, senior 12,000 and above; a doctor's admin assistant who runs the licence file, correspondence and conferences 8,000 - 12,000, senior 12,000 - 18,000; a hybrid assistant covering business, personal and household 10,000 - 18,000, senior 18,000 - 25,000. Total package; the employer also pays visa, health insurance and a gratuity provision.
