Licence first or job first?

DHA lets you get a professional registration without an employer: verification, assessment and a registration certificate valid for one year. It becomes a licence only when a DHA-licensed facility activates it. Many employers prefer candidates who already have the registration, because the start date becomes predictable.

• Registration first: more control and a stronger position in the job search, you pay and manage the process yourself
• Job first: some employers support or pay for licensing, but the offer is usually conditional on getting the licence
• Either way, start the self-assessment and document collection at once: it costs nothing and shows the blockers early

The sequence

• 1. Self-assessment against the PQR in Sheryan: which title you can expect
• 2. Documents: diplomas, internship, experience letters, licences, good standing certificate, legal translations
• 3. DataFlow primary source verification
• 4. DHA assessment (computer-based or oral) or an exemption
• 5. Registration certificate, valid one year
• 6. Offer and contract: salary, housing, malpractice cover, CME support, notice period
• 7. Licence activation by the facility, with malpractice insurance
• 8. Employment visa, medical fitness test and Emirates ID

Family

• Family can be sponsored once you hold residence, subject to the income and housing conditions set by the immigration authorities (ICP / GDRFA Dubai)
• A registered tenancy (Ejari) is normally needed
• Marriage and birth certificates must be legalised for use in the UAE, with official translation
• School places in popular areas fill early: apply as soon as the offer is signed

Housing and the first months

• Rent in Dubai is often paid by one or several cheques in advance, plus a deposit and agency fee: plan cash before the first salary
• Probation is typically up to six months under UAE labour law; the notice terms in the contract matter
• Keep CME points from the first year: they are needed for licence renewal
• If pay includes commission, the patient base takes months to build, so compare the fixed part of offers
