What inspectors usually look at

• Valid occupational health cards for every employee who works with clients
• How tools are cleaned, disinfected and sterilised, and where clean and used tools are kept
• Single-use items used once and disposed of properly
• Products: labels, expiry dates, and that they are compliant for use in the UAE
• General cleanliness: surfaces, towels, pedicure equipment, washrooms, waste
• That the services provided match the licence activities

Sterilisation and tool hygiene

• A clear cycle for every tool: clean, disinfect, sterilise where required, store closed
• Separate, labelled containers for used and clean tools
• Pedicure chairs and foot spas cleaned and disinfected between clients
• Towels and linen washed properly and stored separately from used ones
• Staff trained on the procedure, not only the manager

Records to keep ready

• Copies or a list of staff health cards with expiry dates, so none lapse
• Cleaning and sterilisation logs, filled in by shift
• Product purchase invoices from known suppliers
• Trade licence, and any approvals and permits for the premises
• Waste disposal arrangements

Products and services to be careful with

Use products from suppliers who can show they are compliant for the UAE market; unlabelled or imported-in-a-suitcase products are a risk. Procedures that use medical devices or injections are regulated by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and are not done under a salon licence: check before adding any service that sounds medical.

How to be ready every day

• A daily opening and closing checklist signed by the shift lead
• A monthly internal check by the manager using the same list
• A tracker of health card expiry dates for the whole team
• A clear owner for hygiene: usually the salon manager
• New staff trained on hygiene in their first days
