Take last week and write down every task that did not need your judgement: it just needed someone to do it. Then answer the questions below. This is a method to count your own number, not a statistic.

How many hours of last week went on tasks that did not need you? Count honestly: calls to suppliers, bookings, payments, forms, searching for documents, reminding people
What is one hour of your work worth to the business? Use your billing rate, your margin per client meeting or your salary divided by working hours
Multiply: hours on delegable tasks times the value of your hour. Compare the result with the monthly cost of an assistant from the table below
How many things are late or forgotten right now? List them. If the list has more than five items, the problem is capacity, not discipline
Who covers you when you are travelling or ill? If the answer is "nobody, it waits", that is a risk, not just an inconvenience
If the maths says an assistant pays for itself and the list of late things keeps growing, the decision is made; the only question is which type
