House managers (household managers) for villas and large family homes in Dubai. The house manager runs the home as a small operation: the household staff and their schedules, suppliers and contractors, maintenance and the pool, the household budget, inventories and the preparation for guests. The owner stops being the person who knows where the spare keys are and why the air conditioning contractor has not come. We assess candidates on how they run a home, not on how they clean one.
Hire a house managerLooking for a job?A house manager who keeps the villa, its staff and its suppliers working quietly, with a budget the owner can read and a home that is ready for guests at short notice.
House manager is not a licensed role. The person has the keys to the home and manages the people inside it, so the checks are about management, honesty and references.
How it differs from neighbouring roles. A housekeeper cleans and runs the laundry and the kitchen and may supervise one or two helpers; a house manager manages the whole household team, the suppliers and the budget and usually does little hands-on work. A lifestyle manager runs the family's travel, events and private admin, not the home. A family office assistant handles the family's documents and coordination from an office. Hire a house manager when the home has three or more staff, regular contractors and guests, or when there are several properties. Common hiring mistakes: promoting a good housekeeper into the role without management skills or budget discipline; no written authority over the other staff, so nobody listens; no inventories at the start, so losses cannot be seen later.
| Level | Salary, AED/month |
|---|---|
| House manager of a villa with 3-5 staff | 10,000 - 15,000 |
| Senior house manager, several properties or a large staff | 15,000 - 20,000 |
| Head housekeeper with supervisory duties | 6,000 - 9,000 |
Orientation only, market estimate: pay depends on the size of the home, the number of staff and properties, hospitality or estate experience and whether the role is live-in or live-out. Total package, basic salary plus allowances (accommodation is often provided for live-in roles); the employer also pays visa, health insurance and gratuity provision.
Besides the salary, the employer covers the work permit and residence visa, medical test, Emirates ID and mandatory health insurance. By UAE law these costs cannot be deducted from the employee's pay.
Exact visa and insurance costs depend on company category, emirate and plan. See the full cost of hiring guide or ask us for a budget for your case.
Orientation, market estimate: about 10,000 - 20,000 AED per month total package for a house manager, with 10,000 - 15,000 AED for a villa with three to five staff and 15,000 - 20,000 AED for several properties or a large team. The employer also pays visa, health insurance and gratuity provision; live-in roles often include accommodation.
A housekeeper does the cleaning, laundry and kitchen and may supervise one or two helpers. A house manager manages the whole household: staff rotas, suppliers and contractors, maintenance, budget, inventories and guests, and does little hands-on work. If the home has up to two staff and no regular contractors, a senior housekeeper is usually enough; with three or more staff, several properties or frequent guests, hire a house manager.
