Hire a barista in Dubai

Baristas for specialty coffee shops, cafe chains, hotel lobby lounges, bakeries and office cafes in Dubai. The barista is the face of the bar: dials in the espresso every morning, steams milk that pours well, keeps the queue moving at the morning rush and still chats with the regulars. We assess candidates on the machine: calibration, milk, latte art and a timed sequence of orders.

Who we help you hire

A barista who pulls the same quality shot at the morning rush as on a quiet afternoon and keeps the bar clean while doing it.

What to check before hiring

Photos of latte art say little about a barista at the morning rush. The practical test is done on the employer's own machine before the person starts.

1
Calibration task: the candidate dials in a new coffee on the employer's machine and grinder, tastes, adjusts and explains each change in grind, dose and time.
2
Milk and latte art: a flat white, a cappuccino and a latte with oat milk: we look at texture, temperature and pattern, and whether three cups in a row look the same.
3
Peak workflow simulation: a queue of eight mixed drink tickets against the clock: we watch the sequence, multitasking, a clean station and communication with the counter.
4
References: a call to the previous cafe manager or head barista about speed at peaks, consistency, punctuality and how the candidate keeps the bar clean.

Typical hiring mistake: choosing by latte art on social media. One beautiful cup says little about speed and taste with a queue out of the door, so test calibration and peak workflow every time. How it differs from a waiter: the barista owns the coffee bar and its quality; in a small cafe the barista often also takes orders and payments, so test the cash desk and the POS as well.
