Three common concepts

• Nail bar: narrow menu, short services, high volume; the team is mostly nail technicians plus administrators, fast to hire and train
• Full-service salon: hair, color, nails, lashes, skin; higher ticket and more repeat visits, but a larger team, more equipment and a manager who can run several departments
• Premium or boutique: fewer clients, higher prices, senior masters with their own following; the hardest part is hiring and keeping those masters

Location types

• Mall: footfall and visibility, but high rent, service charges, mall opening hours and strict fit-out rules; staff must cover long shifts and weekends
• Street or retail unit: more freedom and usually lower costs, but you must bring every client yourself through marketing
• Community centre: repeat local clients, steady weekday demand, word of mouth and WhatsApp matter most
• Hotel or residential tower: a captive audience, but terms depend heavily on the landlord

Home service and villa salons

Mobile and home-service beauty is common in Dubai, but it needs its own licence activity and conditions. Running a salon from a residential villa or apartment without the right licence and approvals is not allowed. Check the activity with DET before you invest.

What each choice means for staffing

• Long mall hours need two shifts or rotating days off, which means more people for the same capacity
• Premium concepts need senior masters: plan more time and a stronger commission offer
• Full service needs a real salon manager, not only a senior administrator
• Home service needs masters who can work independently, with transport and a clear schedule system
• Ladies and gents services are usually separate licence activities, which affects who can work where

• Talk to masters you want to hire: would they work at this location
