"No experience" is almost never true for someone who considers becoming an assistant. A hotel receptionist has handled demanding guests at 2 am, a teacher has run a calendar for thirty families, a sales coordinator has chased payments and kept a CRM clean, a parent who runs a household has managed budgets, schedules, suppliers and crises for years. What you lack is the assistant vocabulary, a few tools and proof that an employer can check. All three can be built in a month. This article from our School of assistants series shows which experience transfers, a 30-day self-training plan, a first CV without assistant experience, the roles to apply for first and how to show reliability in an interview.
Talk to usEmployers do not buy a title; they buy the ability to run someone's week. Translate your past into that language. Below are the most common backgrounds and what each one has already taught you.
One month of daily practice, about an hour a day, turns adjacent experience into assistant skills you can demonstrate. Keep everything you produce: it becomes your portfolio.
A junior assistant CV is read in a minute. Make the first screen answer one question: can this person run my week. Our assistant CV guide covers the format in detail; these points are for the person with no assistant title yet.
Aim one step below your ceiling and win it fast. Figures are market estimates in AED per month, total package, basic salary plus allowances; the employer also pays the visa, health insurance and gratuity provision.
Without a track record, the interview is where you win or lose. Employers look for evidence, not promises. Bring it.
TLNT is a hiring consultancy. Employers ask us to search for assistants against criteria agreed at the start; we assess candidates with a practical skills assessment on real tasks and introduce the ones who meet the criteria, including people who enter the profession from adjacent fields when the role allows it. The employer interviews, makes the hiring decision and agrees the terms with the candidate; the person is employed directly by the employer, the employer sponsors the visa and we give a step-by-step checklist.
For candidates: send your CV through our candidates page or build one in the free CV builder; we let you know when an employer has a matching vacancy. Candidates never pay us.
Our fee is fixed for each role and agreed before the search starts. A 10% prepayment of the fee starts the search, the rest is due once the person has started work. If it does not work out, we find a replacement free of charge; the period is set in the contract. Consulting and CRM projects are priced after a free review.
Yes, at the entry level: administrative assistant, receptionist or coordinator, junior personal assistant, virtual assistant. Employers accept people from admin, hospitality, teaching, sales and household management when they show written English, tools, reliability and references. Rewrite your past as results, practise for a month on real tasks and bring a portfolio of templates to the interview.
As a market estimate, an administrative or junior personal assistant earns 5,000 - 8,000 AED per month total package, basic salary plus allowances; a junior personal assistant to a family or owner 5,000 - 10,000; a virtual assistant 3,500 - 8,000 part-time or remote (orientation). The employer also pays the visa, health insurance and gratuity provision. Senior administrative assistants reach 8,000 - 11,000 and executive assistants 12,000 - 20,000.
